Part-funded Social Media Training puts Yorkshire & Humber Businesses on the Digital Map

The Social Media framework is funded through Calderdale College’s Skills Enhancement Fund (SEF). The programme was introduced to provide knowledge to senior managers of the business advantages of social media and search engine optimisation to their business survival and ultimately growth. The programme has been a huge success with over 800 businesses benefitting from the training throughout Yorkshire & Humber.

SEF provider, Social Progress specialise in Social Media. They have worked with 288 businesses throughout the region to deliver a total of 39 full day workshops, covering aspects of Social Media such as Facebook, Twitter, Blogging and LinkedIn.

Janet Bebb from Social Progress has received great feedback from employers; "We were delighted to be able to support businesses across Yorkshire & the Humber with social media training, The two full day workshops on Facebook & Twitter, LinkedIn & Blogging proved to be very popular and we still receive inquiries for the part funded workshops. We were blown away by the lovely positive comments from people on the workshops through the feedback forms and naturally on social media."

my business has grown as a direct result

CHR Consulting is an independent recruitment agency, specialising exclusively in the provision of resourcing solutions for the HR and Training community. Sarah Chatterley Recruiter/Owner of CHR Consulting became aware of the part-funded workshops through a local networking event and contacted Janet Bebb to find out more.

Sarah comments on the impact of the training; “My attendance at the workshops has made a significant impact on the success of the business. I am now more confident and consistent with both my branding activities and use of the Social Media tools as a business generator. It was interesting to hear the stories of other individuals on the workshop and provided food for thought with regard to how I could fully maximise Social Media within the business and my day-to-day activities. My business has grown as a direct result I believe and I am now looking at recruiting an additional member of staff.”

numbers of people viewing our page increased dramatically

Veronica Dennant from Gainsborough Day Care (Lincolnshire YMCA) had been informed that the training delivered by Social Progress would be a great advantage in order to update their Facebook page as well as delving into the world of Twitter.

When speaking about the results of the training Veronica said: “The numbers of people viewing our page increased dramatically, which in turn included new clients contacting us and booking their children into our setting. Our numbers for September to December which have been historically lower than for the rest of the year have romped away. Our capacity is not up to the almost 100% which we had before the end of the summer term but is at almost 75 % instead of the 60-65% of the previous 2 years for these 3 months. AMAZING!”
